OUR WORK IN ANIMAL RESCUE
A large part of our work involves helping a variety of animal rescue organisations from across Europe to safely transport unwanted and abandoned animals to their new homes (once they have received some initial care; been assessed and have been cleared by a vet to travel).
In fact, with the help of two friends, Clair formed Give A Dog A Home Rescue – Malaga to raise awareness about their work with homeless dogs in Acarquia and gain support from a wider community. By broadening awareness and establishing a Facebook group, this has enabled them to find more loving homes for the dogs they care for.
Through her work, what Clair and her team have quickly discovered is that every dog has a different story to tell. From dog pounds, ill owners and social problems to being old, injured or used for hunting… all have found themselves in the same place – feeling unwanted and abandoned.
For many they are dumped in the countryside (campo) or are left on the streets to fend for themselves, where they face malnutrition, dehydration, disease and infection. Worse, many find themselves at the Dog Pound where one in five end up being euthanized.
With this knowledge, GADAH works hard to rehome dogs throughout the world, offering first local foster care – where they can be assessed for the kind of home they’ll best thrive in – second, the opportunity to heal and regain their fitness and happiness, and third the chance to find their new forever homes.
GADAH prides itself on taking its time to carefully match the right dog with the right home and has close links with others working in animal rescue throughout Europe and beyond.
Similarly, they regularly take dogs from the pound and assist distressed and unwell animals on the street.
Many of the dogs looking for homes are featured in the regularly updated Give a Dog A Home Rescue Malaga Website. If you are interested in rehoming a dog then please get in touch either through the GADAH website or here.
Yet this is not the only animal rescue PETS Transport supports or is associated with.
